Who is the “Red Dog”?
In dedication to Maggie, Chloe, Hazel, and Henry.
The Red Dog Rescue is more than just one, it’s a community of many. Our name honors a line of very special dogs who shaped our lives and inspired our mission. Through their love, their lessons, and even their loss, they gave us the heart and purpose to rescue.
Our co-founder Jenni has spent the last 14 years fostering animals of every kind (yes, even snakes!). Her passion for rescue began with two extraordinary dogs: Maggie and Chloe. Maggie, the mother, and Chloe, her daughter, became Jenni’s world. Chloe, her constant companion for fifteen and a half years, carried Jenni from childhood into adulthood. Together they gave their hearts to saving as many animals as possible. Before The Red Dog Rescue could officially launch, Chloe passed away - our heart and soul, and the true dedication behind our name.
Our co-founder Cora grew up surrounded by animals, from helping injured wildlife to raising her childhood Vizslas. Those dogs, full of fire and tenacity, taught countless lessons that sparked an entire career in dog training and a devotion to rescue. Without them, there would be no Cora and no foundation for the work we do today.
We owe it to these four dogs. Maggie, Chloe, Hazel, and Henry, for leading us here. They taught us in the loud and chaotic moments, and they taught us in the quiet ones too: when to run fast, when to slow down, and always how to love without conditions.
Our logo is inspired by Chloe, Jenni’s soul dog - the ultimate Red Dog. She is the reason this mission exists, and her spirit lives on in every dog we save.
The Red Dog Rescue isn’t just about red dogs. It’s about the love, loyalty, and resilience they embodied. That spirit drives us forward as we dedicate our lives to giving as many dogs as possible their second chance.
